What Plants Can Teach Us About Mental Health at Work

Selective focus of businesswoman gesturing while walking with partners in office.
In nature, nothing truly grows alone. Beneath the soil, plants are in constant conversation—sharing resources, warning each other of danger, and adapting together when the world around them changes. This quiet cooperation is what keeps entire ecosystems alive. We aren’t so different. At work and in life, our well-being is deeply tied to the people around us. When one of us struggles, it ripples outward. When we share kindness, understanding, and support, we all grow stronger together. The truth is, modern workplaces can be stressful, especially when pressure is constant and rest feels like a luxury. But by looking to the natural world, we can remember a powerful truth: connection and care aren’t just “nice to have.”… Read More

Spring is a great time to give your indoor plants the refresh they need. Photo: Adobe Stock Spring is the season of renewal, making it the perfect time to refresh your indoor plants. Here’s how to give your indoor plants a fresh start with a simple spring-cleaning routine.  1. What Nature Teaches Us About Gratitude

As Thanksgiving approaches, we reflect on the people, opportunities, and experiences that fill our lives with gratitude. At Good Earth Plant Company, working with plants every day reminds us that nature has so much to teach us about thankfulness and balance. 1. The Gift of Patience Nature operates on its own timeline, and it teaches us to slow down and trust the process. A tiny seed doesn’t become a tree overnight; growth takes time, care, and consistency. Plants remind us that good things are worth the wait and that small, steady efforts often lead to the most rewarding outcomes. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to overlook the value of patience.… Read More

A Merry Message from Jim Mumford and Good Earth Plants

Ho Ho Ho! The holidays are upon us. The Good Earth Elves have been busy decorating our clients’ homes and businesses for the season, including our custom creations for commercial clients Qualcomm and Illumina. My busy travel schedule not only taught me a lot, it made me appreciate San Diego even more than I already do. Out of the four conferences, I thoroughly enjoyed Nashville (it was cold – 28 degrees) and the Cities Alive Conference. Lots of Jim in Plants conversations about green roofs and living walls (vertical gardens) and how to design them, what system and plants to use and how to maintain them long term.… Read More
